I really appreciate the way members of Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints dress for Church. It is respectful and a witness in itself. If only other Churches followed the practice.

In reply to J.D. Moore. If a woman’s body is distracting, it is your fault. I am not saying that it’s appropriate to wear those clothes, but you should be able to control yourself when a woman is wearing a shirt or dress that are not appropriate. Just don’t look at the woman. If you can’t keep it in your pants, don’t go to church. Learn to control yourself. It’s gross that you have to blame the woman for getting distracted by these things.

I agree that higher standards help me feel closer to Our Saviour and that we should commit to to the wishes of the Lord and not the wishes of the world. All the commandments are there to help us and I have found that obedience to them always brings blessings to my life. The church knows what is best for us and whenever we are asked to maintain high standards – even though these sometimes might seem difficult, it is always worth it. The guidance we get comes from high and if we fail to reach them, we fail to reach our potential as disciples of Christ.

In reply to J.D. Moore. Standards were destroyed when people began to assume that there is a constitutional right to not be offended. Fact: No such right exists! Additionally, emotionals trump reason and logic in public discourse today. It’s a silent coup.

I have seen many times in our church that many of the women wear low cut blouses and a dress above the knee. This is very inappropriate and distracting, but if something is said, we have the fear of offending them and so we see that a little by little we are falling away from our moral dress code. I did say in our church but I really mean this to be universally. It would be great if we were to get back to our high standards and fill the wishes of the Lord and not the world. Let us remember that our bodies are a temple and we need to respect it as such.
