In reply to Missy jenkins. Mormons don't wear temple garments to impress God. We wear the holy garment to remind ourselves of the covenants we have made with God.

I have a friend who wears the special underwear. I notice it when we are in the locker room at the gym. It looks the same as any other underwear except the legs are longer- down to about his knees. I asked him why he wears them. He said it was to remind him of his vows- marriage, devotion to Christ, etc. Ok, cool as far as I’m concerned. All I care about is that he is a good ball player.

In reply to amie. Very interesting question, Amie. Both men and women in the Church are supposed to keep their garments covered. Modesty should be practiced by Mormon men and women alike. Men's garment tops look like T-shirts, and maybe these men think their garments will be mistaken for T-shirts.

I am not a mormon but I have noticed that pretty much every mormon man that I know wears the white garment under his shirts. I know this because the top of the garment pokes out a little or a lot from the neck of the tshirt or unbuttoned polo or dress shirt. I live in AZ & also know mormon women who go to great lengths to keep their garments covered but it seems like the men are given more leeway here. Any reason for this? Is this some kind of code to other mormons or is it just that the tops for men are designed like a tshirt so it doesnt matter if they are covered? Maybe modesty only applies to women?
